Florida Photo Album - Part I
|
One from the archives - some images from a trip to Florida in April 2000. Photos scanned -
some more successfully than others - from Fuji Velvia ISO 50 slide film.
Caladesi island and Honeymoon Island off the Gulf coast near Dunedin and Clearwater - some
of the best beaches in the USA - for people and birds!
Dolphins, here in captivity, but also to be seen in the wild around the coast.
|
Brown Pelicans are everywhere!
|
Double-crested Cormorant
Florida has to be one of the best places for close encounters with a variety of herons and egrets.
Great Blue Heron (GBH!) taken with a standard lens, feet up on the balcony!
|
A Yellow-crowned Night Heron goes "crabbing".
Oops! The one that got away!
|
A Tricolored Heron prefers the prawn cocktail.
But the Great Egret has definitely bitten off more than it can chew!
Most of the herons and egrets are more serene and sedate, but the Reddish Egret has a wild look
in its eye, as it gets ready to go off on a fishing frenzy!
... and still at it as the sun goes down!
